Octavian’s sound has been described by The Fader as the mixture of house, rap and drill with influence from the Canadian rapper, Drake while Pitchfork described it as mixing R&B and dance-hall with downbeat grime, peppy house and UK hip-hop.
Early Life
Octavian who was born in Lille, France, had moved to the UK with his mother at the age of three after his father passed away.
He obtained a scholarship to the BRIT School but soon dropped out after a year and a half.
Career
He got signed with Sony / ATV Records in 2018 where he also won the BBC’s Music of Sound Award in 2019.
He released his album “Alpha” in 2020. The album featured the likes of 21 Savage, Future Skepta, Bobby Raps and Teni.
Personal Life
Octavian was allegedly accused by his ex-partner, Hana, known as Emobaby4real of domestic violence. She posted multiple videos and text messages as the evidence while detailing how she had suffered abuse from him for years during their relationship.
